The Silent Self

Before you say “I”

You take yourself to be someone. A name, a history, a body, a story running in the head from the moment you wake. Before any of that, before the first thought of “I”, something is already here.

This is a place for that understanding. Not a teaching to believe. Not a method to practice. A way of seeing that begins with you, and does not end with you.

When it is seen, not believed but seen, the self-interest that quietly drives most of what we do begins to loosen. What remains is less calculating, less afraid. It cares on its own: how you love, what you eat, how you meet the earth and the people on it.

Tanay, seated in stillness

Before we change the world, we must understand the one who is trying to change it.
